I'm Michelle Bradberry a lifelong public servant, problem-solver, and proud resident of Topeka's District 7.

 

My dad served 28 years in the U.S. Air Force, so we moved a lot but Topeka is where I put down my roots and built my life.

I was a single mom of three girls. I went to college full time and worked, pushing through to earn my degree and build a career in public service all right here in Topeka.

​

I’ve lived the challenges so many families face: navigating systems, stretching paychecks, and trying to build stability. That’s why I’m running for the people who are doing everything right but still feel left behind.

I'm running for Topeka City Council because I believe local government should be transparent, accountable and focused on results. We need a city budget that reflects our values, public safety that prioritizes prevention and response, and development decisions that actually benefit Topekans.

I have 23 years of public service in state government working for the Department for Children and Families. My experience has consisted of leading teams that determined eligibility for Medicaid and SNAP programs and also Adult Protective Services. Since 2013, I have been in operations where I managed a $28 million budget for a region consisting of 11 offices. Currently, as Accounting Manager, I lead a team of five and ensure expenditures comply with federal, state and agency requirements.

I've completed classes through the Kansas Leadership Center, and in January I'll begin the Heartland Certified Public Manager Program (CPM) through KU School of Public Affairs and Administration's Public Management Center.

 

I'm committed to leading with integrity, accountability and collaboration. I’ve seen what works and what doesn’t. I’m running to make Topeka work for all of us by focusing on affordable housing, responsible spending, and smart, inclusive growth.
